Summary
Function - To create custom HL7 interfaces, originating from MEDITECH, that point to other vendors or hospital systems. The MEDITECH Programmer/ Application Specialist works with customers, vendors and project management in order to create, install, edit and troubleshoot custom HL7 interfaces. Takes ownership of assigned interfaces and is responsible for coding HL7 interfaces from initial coding to customer acceptance and also helps maintain the interfaces.
Duties
Essential Functions – Performs all of the following
- Create, implement, test and support interface solutions at client sites according to specifications
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Work effectively with project management
- Prioritize customer issues properly and communicate updates as appropriate. Use good judgment to determine problems that may need escalation.
- Manage multiple issues in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with on call rotation
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Education
- Required - 2-3 years of MEDITECH Magic and/ or Client Server programming experience
- Preferred - More than 2 years MEDITECH Magic programming experience. Associate degree in the field of information technology or in a related field
Experience
Required
- Experience programming in MEDITECH Magic and/ or Client Server code
- Experience with escalating issues
Desired
- 2 or more years MEDITECH Hospital IT experience
- Experience supporting MEDITECH servers and applications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required
- Good understanding of MEDITECH data structures
- Good understanding of NPR, $T and Client Server code
- Good knowledge of HL7 protocol

- Hospital information systems knowledge
- Healthcare programming experience

Scope - The Interface Programmer works with customers, vendors and project management in order to create, install, edit and troubleshoot custom interfaces. The Programmer also takes ownership of assigned interfaces and is responsible for coding interfaces from initial coding to customer acceptance and also helps maintain the interfaces.

Education
- Required - Associate degree in the field of information technology or formal technical training in computer programming
- Preferred - Associate degree in Computer Science
Experience

- Intermediate experience with Visual Basic, VB Script or a similar language
- Experience with escalating issues

- Experience programming in MEDITECH Magic and/ or Client Server code
- 2 or more years MEDITECH Hospital IT experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required
- Basic knowledge of MS Windows and MS Excel
- MS Access, SQL Server, or other database management application experience
- Basic knowledge of HL7, XML, and other interface protocols
- SQL Query building experience

Scope - The NPR Report Writer works with customers, vendors and project management in order to create, install, and troubleshoot NPR reports. Takes ownership of assigned NPR Reports and is responsible from initial coding to customer acceptance and also helps support the NPR Reports.
Duties

- Write and test NPR Reports
- Work effectively with Project Management
- Communicate directly with customers to determine specifications via email, telephone, etc
- Prioritize customer issues properly and communicate updates as appropriate. Use good judgment to determine problems that may need escalation
- Manage multiple issues in a fast-paced environment
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Education
- Required - Vocational or Technical training in computer programming
- Preferred - Associate degree in the field of information technology or in a related field
Experience
Required
- 6 months of NPR report writing experience
Desired
- 2 years of NPR report writing experience and 3 or more years experience in Healthcare programming
Certification or licensure
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required
- Good understanding of NPR Report Writer
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work accurately
